Center for Latin-American Studies (CLAS)

Founded in June 2025, the Center for Latin-American Studies (CLAS) reflects, at the institutional level, the commitment of the Romanian-American University for the international opening and deepening of academic relations with the Latin American space, but more than that, a sign of deep friendship with the Latin American states.

Through its proposed objectives, the Center for Latin-American Studies will actively contribute to the internationalization process of the university by expanding collaborations with higher education institutions, research centers and cultural organizations in Latin America. Thus, the students of the Romanian-American University will be able to benefit from new educational opportunities, academic exchanges, international internships and access to diverse cultural and professional dimensions.

CSLA works closely with embassies and consulates of Latin American countries accredited in Romania, as well as with the diplomatic representations of Romania in the region, supporting intercultural dialogue and joint educational initiatives.

The activity of the center includes:

  • institutional relations with universities in Latin America
  • organization of international conferences, workshops and thematic academic events
  • enabling academic mobility for students and professors
  • directing intensive courses and training programs supported by specialists in the fields of education and research
  • developing cultural actions in different thematic areas

CLAS thus becomes an essential platform for promoting the international values of the Romanian-American University and a new step in fulfilling its mission to educate and provide its students with multiple opportunities globally and to streamline intercultural dialogue.

For 2026, CLAS proposes a broad framework of cooperation with the diplomatic missions of Latin American countries present in Bucharest based on 3 (three) perspectives – sound, color and celebration of life. For each perspective, cultural actions and specific events (exhibitions, concerts, festivals, discussions, university lectures, etc.) will be designed.

CLAS activity is coordinated by Tudor Edu, Ph.D. Habil. Professor – Vice-President for research, innovation and internationalization, and PhD. Radu Vasile Zaharia.
