Reunion of the Classes of 1996, 2006 and 2016

– An Evening of Reconnection, Emotion and Community

On May 8, the Romanian-American University celebrated a truly special moment for its academic community: the Reunion of the Classes of 1996, 2006 and 2016, marking 30, 20 and 10 years since graduation.

The event held a special significance, taking place in an anniversary year in which the Romanian-American University celebrates 35 years since its foundation and, for the first time, organizes the reunion of its 30-year graduating class.

The evening began in the University’s Aula Magna, where alumni, faculty members, students and guests gathered for a festive moment dedicated to the RAU community and to the generations of alumni shaped over the years.

Opening remarks were delivered by:

• Costel Negricea, Ph.D. Habil. Professor, Rector of the Romanian-American University
• Dumitru Miron, Ph.D. Professor, President of the Romanian-American Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Culture
• Mihai Olariu, Ph.D. Assoc. Professor, President of the Senate of the Romanian-American University

A special moment of the evening was dedicated to Professor Ion Smedescu, through an emotional video message addressed to the alumni and the university community.

The event also featured speeches by representatives of the anniversary classes:

• Albert Alexandrescu – Class of 1996 alumnus
• Agathe Cristina Blaga – Class of 2006 alumna
• Carmen Vlăsceanu – Class of 2016 alumna

Alongside them, Flavia Crețu, a second-year student in the double degree Business Studies (Marketing) program organized in partnership with University of York Europe Campus, and Oana Iftime, Head of Alumni, spoke about the continuity of the RAU community and the importance of the connection between generations of students and alumni.

The event was hosted by Victoria Cuzub, a first-year student at the Faculty of International Business.

Following the festive moment in the Aula Magna, alumni continued the evening through faculty reunions, where they had the opportunity to reconnect with former classmates and professors, share memories and relive the atmosphere of their student years.

The reunion concluded with a reception and networking session in a relaxed atmosphere filled with positive energy, once again confirming the strong bond between alumni and the Romanian-American University.
