2026 Euro-Atlantic Forum: European democracy between two electoral cycles
The Romanian-American University organizes a new edition of the Euro-Atlantic Forum, with the support of the Centre for Human Rights and Migration (CDOM), Conflict Prevention and Early Warning Centre, CaleaEuropeana.ro, European Centre for Legal Education and Research (ECLER), and PressHub.
The event will take place on 27th of November 2026, between 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Romanian time), in the Conference Room 017 of the Romanian-American University.
Convened at a significant juncture between two electoral cycles, the Forum is designed as a platform for dialogue among representatives of public institutions, international organizations, the diplomatic and academic communities, journalists, experts, and civil society. The event offers an analysis of European states’ recent experiences, the capacity of democratic institutions to respond to hybrid interference, and the measures required to strengthen democratic resilience ahead of the next elections.
The discussions will assess the principal forms of interference observed in European electoral processes and identify lessons learned and good practices that can help safeguard the integrity of democratic processes.
In a security environment characterized by an increasingly diverse range of threats to the constitutional order, the Forum proceeds from the premise that safeguarding democracy, the rule of law, and the freedom of the electoral process now requires interinstitutional cooperation, international coordination, and sustained dialogue among state institutions, civil society, academia, the media, and the private sector.
The event is organized around three thematic panels that follow a complementary structure:
🔹 PANEL I – DEMOCRACY UNDER PRESSURE | hybrid threats and vulnerabilities in electoral processes
🔹 PANEL II – FROM VULNERABILITY TO RESILIENCE | lessons learned in safeguarding democracy
🔹 PANEL III – FROM LESSONS LEARNED TO ACTION | safeguarding the rule of law and electoral integrity in the run-up to 2028
Complete information related to the panels is available online on the forum’s website, along with the Event Agenda.
