Latin American Dialogue and Cooperation at the Romanian-American University
The Romanian-American University hosted, on October 21st 2025, the second official meeting with representatives of the diplomatic missions of Latin American countries, in a setting dedicated to strengthening cultural and educational cooperation. The event marked a new step toward the development and operation of the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS), part of the Department of American Studies, reaffirming the university’s commitment to international openness and intercultural dialogue.
The meeting brought together representatives from the embassies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay, alongside the university’s academic leadership: Costel Negricea, Ph.D. Habil. Professor – Rector, Tudor Edu, Ph.D. Habil. Professor – Vice-President for Scientific Research, Innovation and Internationalization, Radu-Vasile Zaharia, Ph.D. – Manager of the Department for Strategic International Partnerships and Alin-Daniel Piroșcă, associate professor at the School of International Business and the School of Psychology and Educational Sciences.
The discussions unfolded in a constructive spirit, driven by mutual trust and a shared desire to shape a sustainable framework for collaboration, with tangible impact on the educational and personal development of RAU’s students and master’s candidates.
The Center for Latin American Studies aims to become a dynamic hub for educational and cultural initiatives, connecting RAU with prestigious academic institutions, research centers, and cultural organizations across Latin America. The focus is placed on the personal and professional growth of young people, through projects that foster creativity, empathy, and experiential learning.
Participants outlined an action framework inspired by three cultural themes: sound, color, and celebrating life. These will guide the organization of thematic events such as Latin American Evening, Movie Nights, Dance Series, Coffee Celebration, photography exhibitions, carnivals, festivals, as well as lectures and cultural debates.
Each activity will serve as a piece in an intercultural puzzle, designed to reflect the diversity and vitality of the Latin American region within the Romanian academic landscape.
Through CLAS initiatives, the Romanian-American University strengthens its mission to offer a forward-looking education, grounded in international collaboration, shared values, and globally impactful actions. Students and master’s candidates will benefit from personalized programs, language and literature courses, cultural workshops, and collaborative projects—all within an environment that encourages curiosity, authenticity, and excellence.
