From tradition to the future: The Romanian-American University celebrated 35 Years through a series of events dedicated to community and education
The Romanian-American University celebrated 35 years of academic excellence through a series of events held between April 16–18, 2026, bringing together hundreds of participants from the academic, diplomatic, and business communities, alongside students, high school pupils, alumni, and institutional partners.
The central moment of the anniversary program was the Anniversary Ceremony on April 16, a milestone event for the university community, which brought together representatives of academia, diplomacy, and the business sector, public decision-makers, as well as faculty, students, alumni, and partners.
The event highlighted the role of the Romanian-American University as a platform for dialogue between education and the socio-economic environment, as well as its contribution to strengthening an educational model oriented toward international openness, with a direct impact on shaping generations of professionals adapted to the global labor market.
Distinguished guests from Romania and abroad took the stage, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between universities, public institutions, and the private sector in building a relevant and competitive educational system. Through their remarks, diplomats, representatives of the academic environment from Romania and abroad, and business leaders reflected the diversity and strength of the partnerships developed by the university over time. The event was complemented by speeches from students and alumni, who highlighted the direct impact of their academic experience on their professional paths.
During the ceremony, Costel Negricea, Ph.D. Habil Professor – Rector of the Romanian-American University, emphasized the importance of continuity and adaptation to new educational realities:
„Education is the force that brings people together, helps them build together, understand each other better, and preserve the essential values of humanity. At the same time, education means more than the transmission of knowledge; it represents the essence of a coherent process of shaping our possibilities for becoming. In this sense, dimensions such as academic partnership and friendship among people are privileged forms of development – ways through which we understand others, the world, and ourselves more deeply. At 35 years of activity, I would like you to think of the Romanian-American University as a place where friendship and knowledge are cultivated, giving rise to the warmth of an authentic academic partnership among people from all corners of the world”
The program continued on April 17 with the Education Festival, a dynamic event dedicated to high school pupils and students, which transformed the campus into a space for academic exploration. The festival featured interactive workshops, presentations of study programs and academic and research initiatives, state-of-the-art equipment, guided campus tours, and thematic activities. The evening concluded on a high note with a choreography show, a music concert, and a film screening.
On April 18, the events concluded with the organization of demonstration football matches at the university’s sports facilities, encouraging team spirit and interaction in an informal setting.
On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Romanian-American University, the DADA Gallery presents a special exhibition bringing together renowned American artists and Romanian artists who have created or exhibited in the United States. A visual dialogue between cultures, styles, and perspectives, the exhibition celebrates international artistic connections and the creative spirit that unites two worlds, highlighting contemporary creativity and the dialogue between art and education.
Costel Negricea, Ph.D. Habil Professor – Rector of the Romanian-American University, reaffirmed the institution’s mission in shaping new generations in his anniversary speech:
„We strongly believe that education can transform destinies and change societies. This is our mission and the profound meaning of our vocation as teachers, guides, and mentors: to provide substance, to inspire, and to shape young people who step into the world with confidence, high ideals, and the courage to follow their path, to build a better life, to fulfill their careers, and, in turn, to contribute to making the world a better place.”
Through this series of events, the Romanian-American University reaffirms its position as a higher education institution focused on performance, internationalization, and sustainable partnerships, continuing to invest in the development of an educational environment relevant to new generations and a community defined by diversity, collaboration, and a forward-looking perspective.
