Romanian-American University organizes the International Scientific Conference “Human Rights at Risk: Organized Crime at Sea and Across Borders (OC-SAB)”
The Romanian-American University is the local organizer of the International Scientific Conference „Human Rights at Risk: Organized Crime at Sea and Across Borders (OC-SAB)”, aunched within COST Action CA23103 – “Life, Liberty and Health: Ensuring Universal Protection of Human Rights at Sea (BlueRights)”, funded through the Horizon Europe Programme.
The event will take place from July 2 – 4, 2026, in a hybrid format, both at the Romanian-American University campus and online via Microsoft Teams.
An Interdisciplinary Scientific Forum Addressing One of the Most Pressing Global Challenges: Cross-Border Organized Crime
The OC-SAB Conference brings together international researchers, human rights experts, practitioners, investigative journalists, emerging technologies specialists, military experts, and decision-makers. The aim of the event is to critically examine the increasingly complex interconnection between organized crime and human rights violations, both in maritime environments and in cross-border contexts.
Launch of the “Academy Against Organized Crime”
On the final day of the conference, the “Academy Against Organized Crime” will be officially launched — a specialized training program focused on the development of research projects, academic networking, and training activities related to transnational organized crime and human rights.
Participants are invited to register:
- With a scientific paper presentation, or
- Without a paper presentation, as attendees.
