Romanian-American University Hosts the Event “The Nurse of the Future: Competencies, Professional Autonomy, Leadership and Innovation in Healthcare”
How do we prepare the nurse of the future?
This is the key question that will bring together representatives from academia and the healthcare sector at the event “The Nurse of the Future: Competencies, Professional Autonomy, Leadership and Innovation in Healthcare”, organized by the Romanian-American University on July 8, 2026, in the University Senate Hall.
The event aims to create a platform for dialogue between academic leaders, professional organizations and healthcare institutions around a highly relevant topic: preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals and redefining the role of nurses in response to the evolving needs of modern healthcare systems.
As host of the event, Prof. Costel Negricea, PhD, Habil., Rector of the Romanian-American University, will open the discussion by highlighting the essential role of higher education in preparing future healthcare professionals and the importance of strengthening collaboration between academia and the healthcare sector.
A key highlight of the event will be the presentation delivered by Dr. Teodor Cristian Blidaru, Consultant Radiologist. Drawing on his expertise in health policy, healthcare workforce development and innovation in healthcare systems, Dr. Blidaru will offer valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of healthcare professions.
The event will bring together representatives of leading professional organizations and healthcare institutions, including:

The event will be moderated by Mariana Zazu, Head of Research and Innovation Department, Order of General Nurses, Midwives, and Nurses of Romania.
The discussions will address key topics related to the future of the nursing profession, including the evolution of professional competencies and responsibilities, professional autonomy and leadership in nursing, collaboration between universities and healthcare institutions in educating future professionals, as well as the impact of emerging technologies, telemedicine and artificial intelligence on healthcare practice.
